Forensic Services
The SLED Forensic Services Laboratory is a full-service crime laboratory that serves criminal justice agencies throughout the state. SLED Forensic Services departments include Computer Crimes, Crime Scene, DNA Casework, DNA Database, Drug Analysis, Evidence Control, Firearms, Latent Prints, Questioned Documents, Toxicology, Trace Evidence, iLAB, and Track-Kit Portal.
Fusion Center
The South Carolina Fusion Center utilizes the expertise and resources of local, state, federal, and private sector security and intelligence professionals to provide intelligence-specific and analytically driven products with the goal of maximizing the ability to detect, prevent, apprehend, and respond to criminal and terrorist activity.
Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS)
SLED Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) serves as the central state criminal justice information repository assisting with crime prevention and the administration of criminal justice by providing accurate and timely information to local, state, and federal criminal justice agencies, civil governmental agencies, and the public as authorized by law and regulation.
Counter Terrorism
The SLED Counter Terrorism department includes the Arson Unit, Aviation Unit, Bloodhound Tracking Team, Bomb Squad Unit, Counterterrorism Dive Unit (CDU), Protective Services/Emergency Management Unit, SeaHawk Interagency Operations Center (IOC) Unit, SWAT Team, and Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Team.
Narcotics, Alcohol, Vice Special Operations and Investigations Services
The Narcotics, Alcohol, Vice Special Operations and Investigations Services Unit address specific areas of enforcement and investigations to assist local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies by providing specialized services dealing with criminal activities statewide related to narcotics, dog fighting, immigration, human trafficking, alcohol, tobacco, and gambling.
Regulatory Services
The Office of Regulatory Services works with individuals, communities, businesses, and other state agencies to educate, investigate, and promote SLED’s community programs and services: Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP), State Constable, Private Investigations, Security Licenses, Security Registration, National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), South Carolina Law Enforcement Assistance Program (SCLEAP), and Community Relations.
