The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division's Student Internship Program is a non-paid program implemented throughout the year in conjunction with colleges and universities throughout the country. 

The purpose of the program is to expose undergraduate and graduate students to SLED and encourage future career interest in the field of law enforcement.

Application


Intern applicants must submit to the SC Law Enforcement Division Office of Human Resources prior to the semester in which the internship is to be served the following:

  1. Completed Internship Application
  2. Personal Resume with One Reference Listed
  3. Written Recommendation (Academic Advisor, Dean, Professor, or Supervisors are accepted)
  4. Personal Statement (Career Goals & Aspirations)
  5. Official Transcript (Unofficial Transcripts are not accepted)

Application Deadlines


  • Fall Semester – Must submit application by July 14 of that year.
  • Summer Break – Must submit application by April 30 of that year.
  • Spring Semester – Must submit application November 30 of the previous year.

Eligibility


Selection for the SC Law Enforcement Division’s Student Internship Program will be based on an individual’s enrollment in a two- or four-year program or graduate-level academic program. Applicants must also have at least a 2.5 cumulative academic grade point average on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent, and must meet other requirements deemed necessary for access to SLED facilities.
