What is the SLED Implied Consent Department?
The SLED Implied Consent Department is responsible for certification, inspection, repair , and maintenance of all breath testing devises and breath site videotaping systems in South Carolina.
In South Carolina, implied consent means that anyone driving a vehicle is considered to have given their consent to submit to chemical tests (blood, breath, or urine) for the purpose of determining the presence of alcohol or drugs in their system if they are suspected of driving under the influence (DUI).
The Implied Consent Department is housed at the SLED Forensic Services Laboratory.
