SLED Rescues 8 Dogs and Charges Florence County Man with Animal Fighting, Criminal Conspiracy, Ill Treatment of Animals

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged Saquan Emanuel Brown, 27, with nine counts of Animal Fighting or Baiting, three counts of Criminal Conspiracy, and six counts of Ill Treatment of Animals on Monday, August 11, 2025. The Florence County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.
During the operation, eight dogs were placed with the Humane World for Animals organization for veterinary care.
Details can be found in the attached warrants.
Brown was booked into the Florence County Detention Center.
