SLED charges Lexington County man following threats

Agents with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged Erik Joseph McBride, 44, on Saturday, February 3, 2024, with the Manufacture, Possession, Use, Aid or Counsel of a Bomb/Hoax Device or Replica, Threatening the Life or Family of a Public Official, and Unlawful Communication. SLED was requested to investigate by the Lexington County Sheriff's Department.

McBride was booked at the Lexington County Detention Center, then transferred to the Newberry County Detention Center.
The case will be prosecuted by the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office.
