SLED Charges Inmate with Destruction, Desecration or Removal of Human Remains in Connection with 2024 Murder Case

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged Kendall Faith Mims, 21, with Destruction, Desecration, or Removal Human Remains on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, in connection with the 2024 murder of Jessica Richard Barns.
This was a joint investigation between SLED and the Pendleton Police Department, with assistance from Pickens County Sheriff’s Office, the Clemson Police Department and the Clemson University Police Department.
Details can be found in the attached warrants.
Mims was booked into the Pickens County Detention Center.
The case will be prosecuted by the 13th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
