SLED Charges Former Chief of the Walhalla Rescue Squad with Embezzlement of Public Funds

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged William David Tatum, 49, with Embezzlement of Public Funds - Value $10,000 or more on Friday, August 22, 2025.
The Walhalla Rescue Squad requested the SLED investigation.
Details can be found in the attached warrant.
Tatum was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center.
The case will be prosecuted by 10th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
