SLED Charges Dorchester County Man with Insurance Fraud

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged Matthew Howard Morgenthaler, 29, with Obtaining Property Under False Pretenses - Value $10,000 or More, Computer Crime - Value Exceeds $10,000 - First Degree, and Forgery - Value $10,000 or More on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. The South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce requested the SLED investigation.
Details can be found in the attached warrants.
Morgenthaler was booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center in Richland County.
The case will be prosecuted by the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office.
