SLED Charges Berkeley County Couple with Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor and Human Trafficking

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged Filipe Novais De Oliverira, 39, with four counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor - Victim 11 to 14 Years of Age, and Trafficking in Persons - Victim Under 18 Years of Age - 1st Offence. SLED also charged Lais Olivetti Silva, 38, with Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor - Victim 11 to 14 Years of Age and Trafficking in Persons - Victim Under 18 Years of Age - 1st Offence. De Oliveria and Silva are married. SLED charged both subjects on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
The Hanahan Police Department requested the SLED investigation. The Tri-County Human Trafficking Task Force and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) assisted in the investigation.

Both De Oliverira and Silva were booked into the Hill-Finklea Detention Center in Berkeley County.
The case will be prosecuted by the 9th Circuit Solicitor's Office.
