SLED arrests two Georgetown County men for operating dogfighting business

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged Edward Lee Moultrie, Jr., 48, with six counts of Animal Fighting, three counts of Ill Treatment of Animals, and two counts of Conspiracy on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. SLED also charged Edward Lee Moultrie, Sr., 78, with Conspiracy in connection with the operation of a dogfighting kennel. SLED partnered with the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office, the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services (SC PPP), and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) to investigate.

Details can be found in the attached warrants.

Both men were booked into the Georgetown County Detention Center.

The case will be prosecuted by the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
