SC CIC Hosts Conference Connecting Tech Pros to Defend Against Digital Threats

Danger can be a click away. Now one South Carolina network of tech experts is working together to fight against data breaches and hacks that target government resources like utilities, schools and county government offices.
“Cyberattacks are among the most serve threats facing our state,” said South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster, who spoke to conference attendees Friday morning and expressed his support for the South Carolina Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity (SC CIC) Program
.
Over 150 cyber security professionals and vendors across South Carolina met for the SC CIC (pronounced 'kick') conference in West Columbia on August 23, 2024.
“The attacker only has to be right once, your system has to be right every time,” said Nick Sohocki vendor Axonius.
The conference had expert speakers, as well workshops on incident response and identifying compromised digital infrastructure. The event was also an opportunity to connect SC CIC Cyber Liaison Officers, or CLO’s, who build a network of experts throughout the stat CLO’s, who build a network of experts throughout the state.
