Summer Interns Solve Mock Crime

Wednesday, Jul 16, 2025

SLED put 17 student interns to work processing a mock crime scene as part of the Summer Internship Program.

The group gathered on Tuesday, July 15 at the SLED Forensic Services Laboratory to learn from the Crime Scene Unit.  The interns were divided up into small groups and had SLED Special Agents explain best practices.

Students sifted through shell casings scattered on the ground, lifted fingerprints, took photographs, and collected evidence, while searching a vehicle for other important details.  It was a unique opportunity for SLED interns to meet Crime Scene Agents, ask questions, and get some hands-on experience.
