SLED Rescues Nearly 600 Dogs from Dogfighting Since 2023

Since launching the Dogfighting Unit in 2023, SLED has worked together with other state agencies as well as numerous local, federal, and community partners to rescue nearly 600 dogs and arrested just over 100 people.

Most recently, the SLED Dogfighting Unit rescued four dogs (one pictured on this post) from deplorable conditions in Florence County. More information on SLED arrests can be found online here: www.sled.sc.gov

Illegal gambling is the number one crime associated with dogfighting. Nearly all of SLED’s dogfighting investigations involve the discovery and seizure of illegal drugs, and many result in the seizure of weapons.
