SLED Charges Richland County Man with Carrying a Weapon on School Property as Investigations Continue into S.C. State Shootings

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged Lucas Shemar Bradley, 19, with Carrying a Weapon on School Property on Thursday, December 18, 2025. The SLED investigation was requested by the South Carolina State University Department of Public Safety.

Details can be found in the attached warrant.

Bradley was booked into the Orangeburg County Detention Center.

The case will be prosecuted by the 1st Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

SLED is investigating two shootings at S.C. State. Both shootings occurred in the evening on Saturday, October 4, 2025. A woman was killed in one of the shootings. The Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office identified her as Jaliyah Butler, 19. A man was injured in the second shooting. The shootings are not believed to be connected at this time, however, SLED’s investigations are active and ongoing.
