SLED Charges Former Orangeburg Department of Public Safety Police Officer with Assault & Battery

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged Christopher James Tyler, 35, with Assault & Battery – 2nd Degree on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. The Orangeburg Department of Public Safety requested the SLED investigation.
Details can be found in the attached warrant.
Tyler was booked into the Orangeburg County Detention Center.
The case will be prosecuted by the 1st Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
