SLED Charges Former Kershaw County Correctional Officer with Grand Larceny, Obtaining Signature Under False Pretenses, and Misconduct in Office

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged Julyan Keith Smith, 52, with Grand Larceny – Value More Than $2,000 but Less Than $10,000, Obtaining a Signature Under False Pretenses – Value More than $2,000 but Less Than $10,000, and Misconduct in Office, on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. The SLED investigation was requested by Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office.
Details can be found in the attached warrants.
Smith was booked into the Kershaw County Detention Center.
The case will be prosecuted by the 5th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
