SLED Charges Former Darlington County Detention Center Officer with Assault & Battery and Misconduct in Office

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged James Levern Gibson, 60, with Assault & Battery - 3rd Degree and Misconduct in Office on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.
The Darlington County Sheriff’s Office requested the SLED investigation.
Details can be found in the attached warrants.
Gibson was booked into the Darlington County Detention Center.
The case will be prosecuted by the 4th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
