SLED Charges Former Camden Military Academy Dean of Students with Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged John Anthony Heflin, 55, with Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – Victim Under 16 Years of Age - Second Degree and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor on Thursday, October 29, 2026. The Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office requested the SLED investigation.
Details can be found in the attached warrants.
Heflin was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center in Horry County.
The case will be prosecuted by the 15th Circuit Solicitors Office.
