In a speech to the graduating class, SLED Assistant Chief Richard Gregory talked to the graduates about what it means to wear the badge.
“When you put on your badge, you're not just handed authority-you're given the public's trust. That trust isn't automatic. It must be earned - moment by moment, day by day - through integrity, respect, compassion, and humility,” said Assistant Chief Gregory. “The badge you now wear represents more than authority. It represents trust. It represents duty. It represents sacrifice. And it carries an expectation: that you will do what is right, even when it would be easier not to.”
S/A Boyce was the Class Leader and S/A Owens was the Assistant Class Leader for Basic Class #838. In addition, S/A Boyce won the JP Strom Award and the Director’s Physical Fitness Award.
